The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) was founded in Paris in 1833 to help the disadvantaged in the local communities. Its foundation was inspired by the dedicated life of a French Catholic Priest (now a saint) Vincent de Paul who spent his life serving the poor.

The gap between rich and poor is widening and the number of people trying to cope with illness, old age, debt and disability, is increasing. This is true here in Ipswich, as elsewhere.
